Last Orders at Camberley Working Men's Club

Thu 18th Feb, 2010 • Get Surrey

Camberley's Working Men’s Club is up for sale after more than 100 years in the town. However, committee chairman Alex Miller hopes that this will not mean the end of the club and that they can find new owners who will let them continue to use the building.Mr Miller said one of the main blows was the smoking ban, introduced in July 2007, and this was compounded when the recession took hold. “People’s habits change but it has been worse with the recession and the smoking ban,” he said. “I am a smoker myself and I don’t like going outdoors. “I like sitting inside enjoying a pint and a cigarette.“Less people started coming after the smoking ban.”
