Fears for North Wales pubs if smoking ban is extended
Tue 9th Feb, 2010 • Daily Post
Extending the smoking ban to beer gardens could be the final nail in the coffin for already struggling pubs, MPs warned last night. The government plans to review the current laws and consider whether it should be extended to door entrances and even outdoor seating areas.
Caernarfon’s Plaid Cymru MP Hywel Williams, who backed the private member’s bill to introduce a ban in Wales, said it would be down to the Welsh Assembly to decide if it wanted to follow any changes made to the legislation in England.
The banning of indoor smoking everywhere is damaging the viability of many licensed premises where people wish to smoke.
